The Best Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 8 granny smith apples, peeled cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 double crust pie crust, for a 9 inch pie
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit.
- 2 melt butter in a saucepan.
- 3 stir in flour to form a paste.
- 4 add water, sugar and brown sugar.
- 5 bring to a boil. reduce temperature and let simmer.
- 6 place the bottom crust in the pie plate.
- 7 fill with sliced apples, mounded slightly. (i like to toss the apples in a little cinnamon before i put them in the crust.)
- 8 cover with a lattice work of crust.
- 9 gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust.
- 10 pour slowly so it doesn't run off.
- 11 bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees fahrenheit; reduce the temperature to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
- 12 continue baking for another 35 to 45 minutes or until apples are soft.
- 13 let cool.
