Molasses Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons soft butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 cream sugar and butter together. add milk, eggs and molasses. mix well. mix ands sift remaining ingredients. add to liquid mixture and mix thoroughly. refrigerate for 1 1/2 hours.
  • 2 turn out on a lightly floured board and roll to 1/2 inch thickness - cut with doughnut cutter.
  • 3 fry in deep hot fat, 375f, until golden brown. sprinkle with sugar.
