Strawberry Rhubarb Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 6 cups rhubarb, chopped (1/2-inch pieces)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
  • 1/2 cup grape juice
  • 2 cups unsweetened strawberries, halved

Recipe

  • 1 place rhubarb in a slow cooker.
  • 2 combine sugar, orange peel and ginger; sprinkle over rhubarb.
  • 3 add cinnamon stick and grape juice.
  • 4 cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until rhubarb is tender.
  • 5 stir in strawberries; cook for 1 hour longer. discard cinnamon stick.
  • 6 serve over cake or vanilla ice cream.
