Two Thumbs Up Banana Fritters With Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1 cup plain flour (all purpose)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (room temperature)
  • 4 large bananas, halved
  • oil, for frying
  • cinnamon sugar
  • 125 g cold unsalted butter, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cream

Recipe

  • 1 whisk water, egg and oil in a large bowl until well combined. gradually whisk in yeast, flour and then milk until smooth. cover and stand at room temperature for 1 1/2 hours or until mixture has doubled in size.
  • 2 caramel sauce;.
  • 3 combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. stir over a low heat until butter melts. bring to a boil, simmer uncovered for or 5 mins or until thickened. set aside to cool slightly.
  • 4 heat enough oil until hot in a deep fryer or large saucepan. toss banana halves in batter to coat, add to hot oil in batches and cook, turning occasionally until golden brown.
  • 5 remove from oil, toss in cinnamon sugar and repeat steps with remaining bananas.
  • 6 serve with ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce.
