The Best Apple Pudding

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 4 -5 apples (enough to generously cover the bottom of the dish)
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups water
Recipe
- 1 slice peeled apples into a greased 8x8 baking dish; sprinkle with cinnamon.
- 2 cream shortening, sugar and egg together; then add milk alternately with dry ingredients.
- 3 add vanilla.
- 4 spread over apples.
- 5 combine all sauce ingredients and boil for 5 minutes.
- 6 pour over batter and bake 35- 45 minutes at 350.
