Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1/4 lb butter or 1/4 lb margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 5 tablespoons cake flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds or 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f butter a 13x9x2" baking pan.
  • 2 cream butter and sugar with electric mixer. add eggs and vanilla.
  • 3 sift together cake flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. alternately add dry ingredients and sour cream to creamed butter, starting and ending with dry.
  • 4 sift cake flour, brown sugar and cinnamon together; stir in nuts.
  • 5 pour half the batter into prepared pan. sprinkle half the filling evenly over surface of batter. pour remaining batter evenly over filling, then sprinkle remaining filling evenly over the top.
  • 6 bake in preheated oven 45 minutes.
